Building Better Communities: ABC Recreation’s 2024 Playground Project Highlights

In 2024, the ABC Recreation team has been hard at work installing playgrounds, splash pads, shade structures, and site amenities across Ontario and Atlantic Canada. We love seeing projects transform from concept through to completion and working collaboratively with our clients to enrich communities with these outdoor spaces.

Sunnyside Park – Oshawa, Ontario

Sunnyside Park is a large neighbourhood park in Oshawa that now features a new playstructure and an accessible swing, as well as accessible park pathways, a shade structure, and a multi-court surface for sports. This space is the perfect spot for families to gather and spend an afternoon playing and enjoying the outdoors.

Victory Public School – Guelph, Ontario

Victory Public School in Guelph now has a new playstructure for children ages 1.5-5 years to play and enjoy. The playstructure offers plenty of climbing and sliding opportunities for little ones to have hours of fun.

Rotary Park – North Bay, Ontario

Rotary Park in North Bay now has a new playground for children of all ages and abilities to enjoy. The playground features two custom playstructures – a boat and a lighthouse – and accessible rubber surfacing. This beautiful park is centrally located near the North Bay and Dionne Quints museums.

Grainger Loop Park – Innisfil, Ontario

Grainger Loop Park in Innisfil is a pirate-themed playground located in the Alcona Capital Development. This play space includes a swing set along with a pirate ship playstructure where children can immerse themselves in imaginative scenarios sailing the high seas!

Mill Arbour Park – Vaughan, Ontario

Mill Arbour Park in Vaughan now has a fantastic playstructure for children to explore! It features plenty of climbing opportunities with play panels and a slide. This is the perfect place for families to visit and appreciate both the play components and the greenspace in the City of Vaughan.

Graves Oakley Park – Halifax, Nova Scotia

Halifax Regional Municipality wanted to offer an accessible park to children of all ages and abilities. Graves Oakley Park in Halifax is a fantastic accessible park that features a fun and engaging playstructure with an accessible ramp, as well as various play panels, climbing and sliding opportunities.
